Introduction – Human performance

The performance of the drone pilot has a major impact on flight safety. Errors are often caused by human factors such as fatigue, stress, or distraction.

As a pilot, you must assess your physical and mental condition before flying.

Poor performance can lead to dangerous situations.

Fatigue and concentration

Fatigue reduces your reaction time and concentration. This can cause you to react too late to hazards.

Long flights or lack of sleep increase the risk of mistakes.

Only fly when you are well rested.

Alcohol, drugs and medication

The use of alcohol, drugs, or certain medications affects your judgment and reaction time.

Flying under the influence is dangerous and prohibited.

Some medications can also negatively affect your performance.

Stress and decision making

Stress can lead to poor decisions and tunnel vision.

Under pressure, you are more likely to make mistakes and miss important information.

Stay calm and stop the flight if you are unable to focus properly.

Situational awareness and errors

Situational awareness means being aware of your surroundings and potential risks.

Distraction or overconfidence can cause you to miss dangers.

Always stay alert and do not underestimate the situation.
